Chicas

I (kati) had a crazy Saturday this week.
It started with a cava brunch at Katharina's with 9 girls from IESE and let's just say that it was very merry, very chatty and the biscuits were fabulous.
I was still sobering up when I left for una cena de chicas with Montse, Carmen, Puri (all the way from Sevillaaaaaa!) and Tina (who was sick and couldn't come :-() and Julia (who became sick and had to leave :-(). That left me and my three espaniolas to party until 6am and we did (our beloved El Parco, then various cocktails and in Luz de Gas until they kicked us out... :))!!! Que noche mas buenisima chicaaaas!! Hasta la proximaaaaa! Und ganz schnell wieder gesund werden, Julehase und Tina!

Xmas Dinner en nuestra casa

It's the holiday season and Mattes wanted to share some special time with some of our closest people at IESE - so we had everyone over for an Xmas dinner. It was - once again - very interactive, with the highlight of Martin and Lenny making suuuper yummy Kaiserschmarn in the kitchen (with secretly imported Bavarian apple mousse), 10 bottles of wine, many funny presents and all in all a really nice evening. Come back soon, guys!

Happy Birthday, Lisa!

We had a cool evening together, pre-partying, with reeeeally yummy Asian food and some highly curious shots... I wonder how long you guys pulled through... :))

World Press Photo Exhibition Walk

Yesterday we had a public holiday and went for a lovely walk around our BCN. We actually live 5min. walk from some great museums, and we took advantage of it this time, visiting the World Press Photo 2008 exhibition in the CCCB.
The photos were very interesting - but the building and its patios were maybe even more memorable on this winter afternoon.
But my personal highlight was the Asian store we stumbled over - FINALLY! Affordable spices and curries and all the things we need to make sushi! Olé!

Suprise Visit in Hannover for Mummy's Bday

As I (kati) was in Germany once again for interviews, I thought I'd surprise Mummy on her bday, which is on December 6th, so the German Nikolaus.
Dad helped plan it all and she was really surprised and happy - even though I could only stay for about 16 hours. We had a nice evening at friends of my parents and then a wonderful long breakfast with Oma and Opa.
Now I'm looking forward to coming back home for Christmas even more :)

Mo'vember Party on Nov. 30th

As you will have seen on the pics, Mattes has been sporting a Mo(ustache) for some now - to be exact since the beginning of November.
It's all in the sense of Mo'vember, a movement to raise money for Prostate Cancer research. Men agree to grow and keep a Mo in November and are sponsored to do so!
I actually really like his and maybe he'll even keep it... Manly man!
Anyway, so there was a final party with - yes you guessed it - dressing up! And Davide and Mattes represented IESE's team and showed best tennis action on the dance floor. Olé!

Autumn afternoon at the Beach

Even though it has become cooler, it's still beautifully sunny most days and you can wrap yourself up and head out for the beach.

It's still really nice to be at the water - and we spent some hours in a chiringuito with Tina and Jan (shout out to them right here ;)) drinking tea and/or beer.

We haven't written in a while... Starting with Halloween...

Hello friends and family,

we haven't written in some time now... ooopss... it's been busy, Mattes doing alot of work at uni (incl. until-5-am-shifts...) and I (kati) have finally gotten momentum into my PhD work, so we don't have fun and games to take pictures of every day any more ;)

But we do make sure we get around and sometimes we even remember to take a camera!

So you all learn to accept that all we ever do here is fancy dress, here are the pics from Halloween this year - Mattes went as a painter (and I got to smear paint all over him ;))) and I went as an angel (always wanted to do that). We will also share with you the brilliant costumes of some of our friends.
And no worries - it's not all! We have more dressing uo coming up in the next posts :)

Bar Crawl Barcelona

Supposed to be one of the 2 spectecular to outstanding nights during the IESE experience, the Bar Crawl leaves us with mixed feelings...
But the mix of gayish looking cowboys, sexy balloon bursting "getting a little bit closer" games and ridiculously sweatty "twister" action on dirty bargrounds lead to an great party @ Mary's place in the end...

Looking forward to part two of the orgy...

Tini and Basti in BCN

Our first visitors from Münster came! Tini and Basti were there for 5 days and even though I (kati) was stuck in bed for the most of it, I hope they had a nice relaxing time in BCN! Mattes made sure to take them out alot, too though of course.

We did alot of cooking - highlight being their great gilthead (that means Dorade, at least leo.org says so), we had too much wine and we finished our entire 43 licour (with leche por supuesto...).
We also went to a cute music festival called "DJs against hunger" in an old market place in BCN and danced a little. Due to the cold and drizzle that day we didn't stay long, but long enough for me to find a BIONADE aaaaaand see the label saying "Hierbas" instead of "Kräuter"... and Fish becoming a monster behind my back.
More to come soon we'r sure - especially since there is some dressing-up party on Friday... tststs....

Greeting from the uni!*

Oktoberfest 2008 Munich and life

Servus amigos!

So we haven't posted in a while - guessing there are three reasons:
a) we've been out and about, travelling to Munich, kati to Berlin, had visitors and lotsa work...
b) I (kati) was sick for about 10 days so nada from me in that time, and
c) we pretty much have a regular week now - driving to uni at 7:30 on the moto, mattes gets lost in case studies, kati gets lost in data and statistics in the library and we get back home for dinner...

But highlights like the Oktoberfest beginning of the month are certainly a must-blog! We stayed with Viki and Rafael (thanks again for being super hosts!!) and had a table in the Hippodrom on Friday, where we ate ALOT and drank even more and danced on the table

Then on Saturday the day was spent with Mattes' boys (and their girls) in the Schottenhaml and discovering the theme park part of the Oktoberfest, including Mattes successful encounter with a "Schiffsschaukel" and lots of candy floss - yummy!
On Sunday we had bautiful weather and went for looong walks in Munich and the English Garten, true autumn, which we will not really get here in BCN (awwwww ;))))

So, we had a great time! Sadly not many pics of people, so check out Mattes' photos on Picassa aswell for more insights.
(and on the last pic you can already see a) that flu is already getting at me.... and b) Mattes knows what the best medicine is ;))

Adieu!*
