Togean Islands - Food

Accomodation in the Togeans always includes 3 meals, this is our dinner.

At Fadhila Cottages we had a own garden on the islands hills to grow fruit, veggies and herbs. In the pic is Mardi, one of the guest house´s guys, showing me the jungle (and obviously the garden)

Getting fresh coconuts for free...

And we went fishing ourselves...

Togean Islands - How to get there (ferries)

Puspita: Wooden ferry goes from Gorontalo to Togeans to Ampara and back. 2009 it left Gorontalo every wednesday night. arriving at the togeans 15h later. In the Togeans it stops at Dolong, Malenge, Katupat, Wakei with approx 1-2h loading unloading time each.

Tuna Tomini is the car ferry that goes Gorontalo - Wakai (only) - Ampana and leaves Wakai every Sunday afternoon towards Gorontalo.

Sulawesi - Togean Islands

Here we go, some pictures from paradise... Togean Islands are a group of islands in the Tomini Bay of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is difficult to get there, communication infrastructure doesnt exist in many places etc. Therefore tourism is still low... I will tellour story by uploading a small selection of many incredible pics we took...
however, a quite nice overview of many islands is here:

And if you need a copy of the map in greater detail, send me an email...

How much does the world cost?

Lao - Nam Ngum Lake

The Nam Ngum Dam was build to generate electricity in a huge hydro powerplant. swamping a huge valley, flooding many villages but also creating a beautiful lake with hundreds of little villages - which used to be the mountain tops of course...

Once at the lake, we chartered a boat and drove out to some of the islands for 2h. We found a little paradise, an islands barely the size of a living room, but with fireplace, selfbuild campsite and 5 trees ;)

there it is...

Lao - Ban Pako Eco Resort

taking a dip in the resorts fresh water spring next to the herbal sauna... nice idea and probably sells good.. however, the sauna was quite rottened and the waterhole rather a joke and definitely not worth the hike through the jungle...

my own little Ban Pako KuschelMonster - 100% lovely

Sunset activities at the Nam Ngum

The resort looked as if it was done really well, 5 years ago... and hasnt been taken care of ever since.. after a night in the middle of our room, everywhere else it rained through the roof... we got a free breakfast at least... but the upscale prices are not justified anymore, for sure!
It is located beautifully though, as the sunset pics might show...
