The Nam Ngum Dam was build to generate electricity in a huge hydro powerplant. swamping a huge valley, flooding many villages but also creating a beautiful lake with hundreds of little villages - which used to be the mountain tops of course...
Once at the lake, we chartered a boat and drove out to some of the islands for 2h. We found a little paradise, an islands barely the size of a living room, but with fireplace, selfbuild campsite and 5 trees ;)
