New Zealand - Day 4: Nelson Lakes National Park

Oh this was good! We had good weather and the national park is simply gorgeous! We got some good info from the tourist center about different hikes and ended up climbing up Mt. Robert - on which we actually reached snow level! Olé! The views were great, the hike was good, the sun was out, it was perfect... If we had had more time we would have extended to a 5 hour route, but Christchurch was calling - our plane left the next morning at 6am... and we were 7 hours drive away... So we called it a hiking day - but still stopped for a few hours in Hanmer Springs to enjoy their thermal pools and relaaaaxxxx.

Attention! Kiwis! Sadly we didn't see any :-(

One of the maps for the mountain we climbed up. Yes, we climed the squiggly line on the right aaaaaaalll the way to the top.

Mattes relaxing at one of the lakes before we hiked up.

The forest on the way up/down (ps: hahahaaaaa ;-))

Mattes on the paths - it was pretty steep and made you wonder what would theoretically stop your slide if you fell down. hm.

Yay lake!

At the top we were over tree level, so the forest simply stopped.

The hut at the top which is also a shelter if weather changes.

Yay snow!

After the hike we drove drove drove through other lovely valleys of this lovely country.

Last sunset in NZ - for now...
